Dahntay Jones wasn’t planning on proposing to Valeisha Butterfield for another two months. The Indiana Pacers forward intended to pop the question on Christmas Day, but on October 10, 2010, the world was abuzz about the day’s numerological significance: 10/10/10. As it only rolls around every thousand years, many couples chose to marry on this rare, auspicious date.

Unfortunately, it was almost midnight when Jones realized this; he also realized that he couldn’t wait any longer to ask for Butterfield’s hand. Jones already had the custom engagement ring, so the next day he reserved the second floor of their favorite restaurant in Indianapolis and invited his love to dinner.

Butterfield– cofounder of WEEN (Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network)– remembers Jones talking at dinner about the significance of the day before; he was visibly nervous. “He walked to my side of the table, pulled out his camera phone, took my picture, then sat back down,” Butterfield says.

“The first time I messed up,” Jones says, laughing.

The second time he came around to her side of the table, Jones got down on one knee, and she said yes.

Nine months later, the couple tied the knot at the historic Duke University Chapel in Durham, N.C. Jones, 30, is a Duke graduate; Butterfield, 33, grew up in Wilson, N.C. (her parents are Congressman G.K. Butterfield and N.C. State Rep. Jean Farmer Butterfield.) A self-confessed “control freak,” Butterfield wisely enlisted wedding planner and childhood friend Kimberly Davis of Culture Capital Management Group in Kernersville, N.C., and Areaka McFadden of Glamour & Glo Event Planning and Design in Washington, D.C., to help coordinate the long-distance nuptials.

The brief afternoon ceremony was officiated by Dr. Benjamin Chavis. Afterward, guests made their way to the “Heaven on Earth”-themed reception, where centerpieces made of white and ivory roses, hydrangeas, lilies, and calla lilies (meant to mimic cumulus clouds) decorated the tables. Guests sipped signature cocktails named “Me and Mr. Jones” and danced to old-school R&B jams played by the famed DJ D-Nice.

“It was perfect,” Butterfield says of the simple, elegant affair. “We have fabulous careers and all that, but at the end of the day, our wedding reflected Dahntay and V. I wouldn’t change a thing.” - Lashawnda K. Becoats

♥ Unlikely bar meeting + beach love…

Who knew that your dad and sister could meet the man of your dreams at a bar? Susan’s dad and sister ran into a group celebrating Mike’s 25th birthday party at Atavola in Greenville, NC. They started talking and her family kept telling him he had to meet her. Well, they went on a date and the rest was history!
Morehead City/Atlantic Beach hold a significant meaning to Susan and Mike. Susan grew up vacationing there every summer and it has always held a special place in her heart. They chose these two places for their wedding because it was were they first fell in love with each other! More to come with their Film!

“OMG…Chris and Toni…this just gave me chillbumps!!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME. It is beautiful, stunning…words cannot express! Thanks for doing an awesome job with what you captured. They kind of look like Rhett and Scarlett in Gone with the Wind in the end….LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!! So excited! Susan called last night and said she balled when she saw the clip. Mike had cut the lights out so the awesome color would be even more dynamic. She said you captured the scripture she wanted and Mike’s expression when she walked down the aisle that she remembered so well. I was thankful I could see that myself as I had turned to look at Susan walk in. They are both so excited to see the complete video. I am so glad you were able to capture some scenes on the beach…I had numerous emails, inbox messages, and post on my wall on the wedding trailer yesterday…comments were they cried, awesome, absolutely breathtaking, and some wanted to know WHO were the filmmakers! I have referred you to several Greenville folks who have upcoming weddings so hopefully they will contact you. Cleve even cried last night when he viewed it. While a pharmacy resident at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, she worked with one of his best friends. It was the night before Easter in 2006 while out one night in downtown Greensboro where they were first introduced. Throughout the spring, they got to know each other by hanging out with friends. In July, he asked her out for coffee (neither of them drink coffee), so it ended up being a full dinner date.
It was July 31, 2010, they were in Atlantic Beach. After dinner, he took her out for a walk on the beach at night. He found a secluded spot on the beach and got down on one knee to propose with his great-grandmother’s ring. They went back to the hotel, where he had secretly arranged to have flowers, candles, chocolate-covered strawberries, and champagne laid out. She was surprised and happy, he was mostly relieved that he didn’t drop the ring in the ocean!
Brandy & Drew summed up their day with a beautiful quote: “Grow old along with me. The best is yet to be…”

Outer banks Wedding | Jamie + Brian Trailer

He worked as a paramedic on Ocracoke. The EMS station was right behind the Ocracoke health center where she worked as receptionist. During a 4th of July fireworks explosion on Ocracoke, they worked together; Jamie as PIO and Brian as paramedic to victims and even had press conference together but they didn’t know each other well. They felt connected from that event on, started talking and texting and finding out everything about each others past, present, and looked into their future…to be continued with their film!

She though he was so charming, handsome, and outgoing the moment they met…She was meeting some friends for dinner, he had just moved to Raleigh from California and wanted to meet new people. His cousin was one of her friends at dinner, he showed up late for dinner and sat across the table. They started talking across everyone, eventually ending up next to each other by the end of the night…to be continued

Jennifer + Kirk | Wilson Wedding Trailer

Jennifer is another one of our brides that is in what we now refer to as “Morgan’s crew”. Last March 2010, we filmed Morgan and Bradley’s wedding, after Morgan’s wedding we met with her friend Jennifer for her May 14 wedding, shortly after we met with Jennifer we met with their friend Teran whose wedding we filmed in April, just a few weeks before Jennifer’s. This is quickly becoming 6 degrees of separation and we absolutely love it! The ceremony was held at a beautiful church, Jennifer and Kirk decided not to see each other until Jennifer walked down the aisle. The reception was held at Jennifer’s grandparents home, there is a lake beside the home where a white tent housed the band and black & white dance floor. The property is unbelievably beautiful! It was a wedding filled with love, excitement, close friends & family, and southern charm. Our team got to spend some time with Jennifer and Kirk before the reception began on the property which resulted in some amazing footage!

Here’s what Jennifer had to say: “We love it and thank you so much. You all do beautiful work!! I love the piano music and Pastor Warren’s message! It just draws you in. Can’t wait for the film!”

Teran + Matt :: Fearrington Village Wedding Trailer

Last March (2010) we filmed Morgan + Bradley’s wedding. From that wedding we have been connected with all of Morgan’s friends, Teran is one of them. We filmed Teran and Matt’s wedding on a beautiful Friday in April, the weather was perfect! Their wedding was rustic but elegant. The venue was the Fearrington Village, which is an old dairy farm with dairy cows, a silo, and a beautiful barn where the reception was held. They planned a gift exchange before the ceremony; Teran’s gift to Matt was a pair of boots and he put them on as soon as he opened them and wore them the whole day. This wedding was a party and the guests danced the night away to The Party Nuts. It was great to work with Tammy Wingo Photography. More to come with their film!

Monique + Johnny Ray :: Wedding Trailer

This was a beautiful wedding! Monique and Johnny Ray couldn’t be sweeter and more perfect for each other. The Umstead set the background for this special day. The rain held off for the ceremony and we made it inside right before it started to pour. But the rain didn’t stop the joy and love these two share. They were just happy to be together. We loved their gift exchange, it’s always fun to see the reactions and emotions that lead up to the ceremony. Monique has a bubbly personality and you just enjoy being in her presence. The reception was breathtaking, I didn’t know how truly beautiful orchids really are until I walked into the ballroom. More to come with their film, for now enjoy their trailer…

Cara + Cliff :: Mississippi Wedding Trailer

This was a special wedding for us…Cara and I became friends over a year ago through working together in the wedding industry. She was an amazing wedding planner and the former owner of A Southern Soiree. We had the chance to work together on a few fabulous weddings and went on weekly dinner dates. When Cara got engaged I immediately was secretly and selfishly hoping that she would ask us to film the wedding. Chris was the first one to get the email from her asking us to film it and I started screaming. I knew this wedding would be whimsical and beautiful, how could it not be?! But more importantly we didn’t just want to be a guest celebrating with Cara and Clif, we wanted to capture it for them to have forever. It didn’t take long after meeting Clif to see how head over heels in love he is with Cara, it was quite precious. From the minute we got on the plane very early April 1 with our friends, Shane Snider, April Sirit, and Randy Bennett it was non stop laughs and fun. We landed in Jackson and traveled to Vaughn for the festivities. The ceremony and reception were held at Clif’s parents house in Vaughn. It was beautiful; the trees and fields made the perfect place for a whimsical soiree. More details when the film is released! For now, here is the amazing trailer…
